The First Month

Oyster launched on September 1, and I'm overwhelmed by the kindness of this community.

In the first month, members told me exactly what they wanted: editing a journal entry after sending it, deleting an entry, adding more than one photo, and adding videos. While I was building Oyster, I had considered some of these features, but hearing our community ask for them meant it couldn't wait. Do you know how exciting it is to hear how we can improve? Priceless. Knowing that our community is helping to build Oyster's future means everything. TLDR: editing, deleting, and adding multiple photos are done; video is coming as soon as it's right.

Thank you to every person who took the time to give me feedback. I love it. And I want you to feel like Oyster is truly yours.

You've also told me how Oyster has changed your day. One member wrote: "It's so interesting to see how I'm starting to anticipate my text from Oyster. Throughout the day, if something happens that I want to remember, I'll think, oooo, that'll be a good one for Oyster."

And together, this community told Oyster about 922 good things. 674 in writing, 192 in photos, 56 in voice memos. I know those numbers. I don't know what's in them, because your journal entries are sacred. I hope you found good things and saved moments you're proud of. And the hard days belong in Oyster too.

Right now, the world seems noisy, with pockets of negativity everywhere. I hope Oyster is a refuge, and a practice to balance the overwhelm.

I am so proud of us, showing up every day, trying to notice the good. Thank you for being part of this journey.

With love, Eliza
