Terms

Last updated June 10, 2026
These are the rules of using Oyster, written so you can actually read them. The short version: be yourself, your words are yours, and either of us can end this anytime.

What Oyster is

Oyster is a gratitude journaling service. We send you one text prompt a day. You reply with something you're grateful for, and we keep your entries so they can become your journal. Right now Oyster is in an early, invitation-based phase — joining the waitlist means we'll contact you when it's your turn, not that the service starts immediately.

Texting

By subscribing, you agree to receive one SMS per day from Oyster. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Message frequency is one message per day, plus replies to messages you send us. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of buying anything.

Your entries are yours

You own everything you write. We don't claim any rights over your journal entries beyond what we need to store them and show them back to you. We will never publish, sell, or share your entries. See our privacy policy for the full picture.

Being a good human

Use Oyster only for yourself, only if you're 18 or older, and only with your own phone number. Don't use Oyster to send anything unlawful or to harm anyone. We can suspend or close accounts that abuse the service.

Ending things

You can stop anytime by replying STOP or asking us to delete your account. We can also discontinue Oyster or any part of it; if we ever do, we'll give you notice and a way to get your entries out first. Your journal should never be hostage to our business decisions.

Honest limits

Oyster is a small, young service, provided as-is. We work hard to keep it running and to keep your entries safe, but we can't promise perfection, and we aren't liable for indirect damages or losses beyond what you've paid us (Oyster is currently free, so that's zero). Nothing in these terms removes rights that your local law guarantees you.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll tell you by text or email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Oyster after that means you accept the new terms.
